APS does not attribute cognition to plants because plants resemble humans or animals.
Nor does APS deny cognition because plants lack brains, nervous systems, or conscious awareness.
The relevant question is organisational rather than anatomical.
Biological Evaluation generates significance. Cognition emerges when significance becomes integrated into viability-oriented organisation across time.
Plant cognition therefore does not depend upon neural structures, nor does it require anthropomorphic interpretations of plant behaviour.
APS rejects both anthropomorphism and anthropodenial. The question is not whether plants are like humans, but whether biological significance is generated and organised within viability-oriented living systems.
