APS distinguishes organised persistence from predictive, inferential, informational, and computational organisation.
Within APS, life is viability-oriented, constraint-closed organisation, while organised persistence concerns how that organisation maintains and re-establishes the conditions of its continuity despite change.
Predictive and inferential processes may contribute importantly to biological regulation, cognition, behaviour, and organism–environment coordination. Their presence, however, does not by itself define life within APS.
APS may therefore investigate how prediction and inference relate to viability, biological significance, and organised persistence. Claims that one of these processes depends upon another, or is explanatorily prior to another, require assessment rather than following automatically from their position within APS architecture.
The central comparative question is not whether APS can place prediction within its own conceptual framework, but whether APS and predictive or inferential approaches identify the same biological dependencies and what explanatory gain, if any, follows when they address the same target.
